
Open Incubator, an initiative by Trinity College Dublin, participated in the EU-Startups Summit 2025, held on April 24–25 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, Malta. The summit gathered over 2,400 founders, investors, and innovators from across Europe, focusing on the evolving role of universities in the startup ecosystem.
During the event, Open Incubator engaged with attendees to discuss the integration of academic institutions into the entrepreneurial landscape. Representatives shared insights into their approach to supporting student entrepreneurship and fostering collaborations between academia and industry.
A panel discussion featuring Open Incubator, the University of Bern, and Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology addressed topics such as intellectual property rights for student researchers and the importance of early-stage venture capital in nurturing startup ecosystems. The conversation highlighted the increasing involvement of universities in driving innovation and supporting early-stage ventures.
Open Incubator also showcased new tools and resources designed to assist students and researchers in developing their ideas. Attendees expressed interest in adopting similar models to encourage entrepreneurship within their own institutions.
