Trinity College Dublin works closely with the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the wider medical community to support discipline-specific innovation. Through the Open Incubator, we empower staff and students to identify real challenges in clinical practice, patient care, research, and health systems, and to develop practical, evidence-informed solutions.

Project Idea Bank
The Project Idea Bank is a shared space where students can submit early-stage project ideas aligned with the identified innovation opportunity areas. These opportunity areas reflect key challenges within the faculty and are intended to guide idea development rather than limit creativity.
Students are invited to apply their ideas to one of the ten innovation opportunity areas, outlining the problem they aim to address, the context in which it occurs, and an initial approach or concept. Ideas submitted to the Project Idea Bank do not need to be fully developed and may be exploratory in nature.
The Project Idea Bank serves multiple purposes: it enables students to contribute ideas connected to real faculty challenges, supports team formation around shared interests, and helps the Open Incubator and faculty identify emerging themes and areas for further support.
Submitted ideas may be considered for further development through workshops, mentoring, pilot programmes, or future innovation activities.
